COMM 001 | Foundations of Scientific Communication (January 29 - February 19, 2027)

This workshop will train participants in translating complex research into clear, audience-appropriate language; identify the needs of a given audience and tailor a message to it; structure a scientific narrative that moves from problem to method to impact; and apply storytelling techniques that hold an audience's attention. Just as important, each participant leaves with finished work rather than notes alone.

COMM 002 | Communicating Science to the Public (March 2 - 23, 2027)

This workshop will train participants in explaining scientific concepts to non-expert audiences; address uncertainty and misinformation honestly and responsibly; design outreach activities grounded in how people learn; and use analogies, visuals, and narrative to make abstract science concrete. Each participant leaves with finished work, not only notes.

COMM 003 | Scientific Communication on Social Media (April 5 - 19, 2027)

In this day and age, science communication is more diverse than ever on the internet and across social media. This workshop introduces strategies to leverage three areas of online science communication: open knowledge platforms, written posts and threads, and audiovisual media. Participants will learn the basic principles of these methods and put them into practice with their own research or a topic of their choosing.

COMM 004 | Scientific and Technical Policymaker and Public Communication for Early Career Government Professionals (May 3 - 17, 2027)

This workshop helps participants translate their scientific and technical expertise into written, visual, and oral communication for policymakers and policy-adjacent audiences. It is designed for trainees, postdocs, early-career researchers, and aspiring policy-engaged scientists, engineers, and health professionals who may interact with federal, state, local, organizational, nonprofit, philanthropic, or private-sector decision-makers or the public.
