Bundle Registration: 4 Workshop Bundle (COMM 001, COMM 002, COMM 003, and COMM 004)

Format: This workshop will meet from 10am-3pm ET for four consecutive weeks.

This workshop will train participants in explaining scientific concepts to non-expert audiences; address uncertainty and misinformation honestly and responsibly; design outreach activities grounded in how people learn; and use analogies, visuals, and narrative to make abstract science concrete. Each participant leaves with finished work, not only notes. Across the four sessions, every participant will have produced:
- a completed Message Box targeting two distinct non-expert audiences;
- a plain-language explainer of one concept, written for a specific lay audience;
- an analogy for a difficult concept, built and stress-tested with peers;
- a simple visual, or a worked concept and sketch for one;
- a rewritten account of an uncertain or contested finding that communicates confidence and uncertainty together;
- a drafted response to a real misinformation or skeptical comment found online; and
- a short outreach activity, designed with a learning-science template, together with a personal outreach action plan.

Material: participants bring i) one piece of writing for a lay audience e.g. an abstract, blog post, article or similar and ii) a concept for a communication (e.g. blog or social media post; short video; infographics etc) they wish to develop for a specific audience (can be on the same topic).
