Background
Projects are any temporary undertaking that create a unique product, service, or result. Projects are all around us—from constructing new buildings, creating software applications, conducting experiments, or setting up a new program. Knowing the essential skills to deliver a successful project is invaluable.

In this course, students will learn tangible, best practices for effectively managing projects and working with teams. The skills are broadly applicable regardless of your role, industry, or career aspirations.

This course combines formal classroom instruction, in-class exercises, and outside-of-class group projects. Participants will spend 2-3 hours per week working with others in a case study.

Objectives
This objective of this course is to impart the fundamental knowledge and practices required to execute a project effectively.

The course leverages critical concepts and processes as defined in the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide, which is an ANSI standard. Practical “best practices” and guides are also incorporated.

At the end of the class, participants will have the skills to initiate, plan, execute, and monitor a project. Participants will learn how to work more effectively with their teams and engage their stakeholders.
